Night at the Kimmel with Pablo Batista

Hey everyone back at it again with another interesting blog for you the viewers. There has been so many events popping up all over Philadelphia which is a good thing. The bad thing is I cannot be at all of them especially if I’m being paid to do some of these events. The event I’m going to be talking about today is a nightlife at the Kimmel, this is a jazz event series partnered with Jazz Philadelphia, Rec philly, and Jesse Bermudez alongside AFROTAINO Productions.

The artist last night was Pablo Batista an international artist who plays rhythm and blues, jazz, Latin, pop and gospel. Pablo is a Pennsylvania native who’s performed with many artists like Alicia Keys and Grover Washington, Jr. He studied Latin percussion at the age of 9, starting with hand drums learning under Master percussionist Miguel Candia, from there he took on Afro-Caribbean music styles, which sparked his interest in salsa. This brought him to Temple University in Philadelphia, where he majored in Pre-law. When researching people, you learn a lot about them which makes you want to dive deeper into their lives. The amazing thing about this artist he is blind, he wasn’t always blind but he still plays as if he can see now. That’s a beautiful thing to still do what you love without seeing but hearing.

The second act within this event was performed by Maestro Flaco a local dance instructor of Flaco’s Dance Factory. He has been friends with Pablo for over 20 years, he also gave the introduction for the event. I had no idea the love people have for salsa dancing ever since I started working for Izlas Latin Cuisine. So many different racist people hitting the dance floor coming together, even without them knowing each other. I like watching people come up to each other asking to dance, the looks of their faces lighting up as they race to the floor. Flaco gave a mini dance lesson on the floor for those who never salsa danced before and for others that already knew but wanted to brush up on their skills. I will be posting his information at the bottom for you the viewers to sign up for his classes, also he will be giving free lessons again at my favorite restaurant I work for after summer.

I’ve always wanted to attend more jazz events or just music events over all. The problem for me is enjoying these events by myself, however that is about to change. Main reason why it will be because I’ve been trying so many different things that have been changing my life back-to-back. This is how you reinvent yourself along with exposing yourself to worlds that you never thought you could be a part of. So, I want to say to my viewers pick yourself up try something new for the experience, no I’m not saying do drugs but what I am saying is do things that add to your life or life style to get an enjoyment out of life. Keep in mind having a hobby is very important for yourself and it can relieve you of a lot of stress when the world feels like it's coming down on you.

Well everyone I hope you enjoyed this blog, my main goal is to keep finding interesting events to bring you to my blog. The Kimmel center has many events you can check out by going to their website, they also have some free events you can go to as well. Also check out the main attraction of this event as well, they're very talented. If you haven't yet signed up for my newsletter don't forget to do so now there is lots of content to watch and read.
